The Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) is an international forum of 29 countries and the European Union with an overarching mission of reducing the vulnerability of people worldwide to terrorism by preventing, combating, and prosecuting terrorist acts and countering incitement and recruitment to terrorism.

Our forum brings together experts and practitioners from countries and regions around the world to share experiences and expertise, and develop tools and strategies on how to counter the evolving terrorist threat. The GCTF is Co-Chaired by Morocco and the Netherlands.

First Regional Meeting on the Nexus between Transnational Organized Crime and Terrorism Initiative

ALGIERS – Algeria - The Netherlands led the First Regional Meeting of The Nexus between Transnational Organized Crime and Terrorism Initiative on 25 October 2017, in Algiers. The Nexus Initiative was officially endorsed at the Eighth GCTF Ministerial Plenary Meeting in New York on 20 September 2017. The Initiative, supported by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), is developing a set of internationally recognized, non-binding good practices that can serve as the basis for international engagement, assistance and training to address the potential challenge posed by the nexus between terrorism and transnational organized crime, and can help authorities at global, national and local level solve this problem.
