The GCTF “Initiative on National-Local Cooperation in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism” aims to build on the Ankara Memorandum on Good Practices for a Multi-Sectoral Approach to Countering Violent Extremism by identifying gaps in, and challenges to, national-local cooperation in P/CVE.

Under the auspices of the GCTF Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Working Group, Co-Chairs Australia and Indonesia, in partnership with the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, the Prevention Project, Canada and the Netherlands, will hold two multi-disciplinary expert workshops in 2019/2020 to bring together national and local governments, international organizations, civil society and private industry to identify and discuss ways to overcome barriers to national-local cooperation in P/CVE, with the objective of producing a Good Practice Document for endorsement at the Eleventh GCTF Ministerial Plenary Meeting to be held in September 2021.
