Initiative on Addressing the Challenge of Returning Families of Foreign Terrorist Fighters - Second Regional Workshop

7-8 May 2018

The Initiative aims to identify and develop a set of good practices, which can serve as the basis for international engagement, assistance, and training to address the potential challenges and security risks posed by family members of FTFs who return from conflict zones to their country of origin or relocate to a third country. The workshop in Bali was the second of three regional workshops; the first regional workshop was held in Tunis, Tunisia on 7-8 February, 2018, and the third regional workshop was held in Madrid, Spain on 28-29 May 2018. This workshop focused on experiences of states in the Southeast Asia region, and was planned in coordination with the co-chairs of the Countering Violent Extremism Working Group, Australia and Indonesia.
