Working Groups

The GCTF has five Working Groups, three of which are thematic—Countering Violent Extremism (CVE), Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF), and Criminal Justice and the Rule of Law (CJ-ROL)—and two of which are focused on regional capacity-building— East Africa Capacity-Building and West Africa Capacity-Building. GCTF Working Groups are action oriented, focusing on the development of good practices and their practical delivery, use, and implementation. At the Fifteenth GCTF Coordinating Committee Meeting in March 2019, the mandates of the CVE, FTF, CJ-ROL and East Africa Working Group Co-Chairs were renewed for two years. The Coordinating Committee elected Algeria and Germany as the next Co-Chairs for the West Africa Region for the same period. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Coordinating Committee decided to extend current mandates by one year and defer the selection of GCTF Co-Chairs and Working Group Co-Chairs to 2022.
