Criminal Justice and Rule of Law Working Group - Plenary Meeting

Criminal Justice and Rule of Law Working Group - Plenary Meeting

3-4 May 2016

This meeting provided an opportunity for the Working Group to take stock of progress since the last Plenary Meeting held in Valletta on 13-14 April 2015. The Working Group also discussed ongoing initiatives and strategic priorities for the coming years. That includes the Initiative to Address the Life Cycle of Radicalization to Violence, where the CJ-ROL Working Group plays a critical role.

The meeting highlighted completed and/or on-going programs aimed at implementing the Rabat Memorandum. This included a presentation of the Global Center on Cooperative Security of its final report regarding how GCTF and non-GCTF members are implementing criminal justice good practices, as defined by the Rabat Memorandum, around the globe.

In the coming years the CJ-ROL Working Group will identify new initiatives and programs (bilateral and multilateral) that can be launched to help operationalize some of the key practices highlighted in the Rabat Memorandum. Particular focus will be on good practices #1, #2, #8 and #9, which were identified as key areas for assistance during the last working group plenary.
