About the GCTF

The Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) is an informal, apolitical, multilateral counterterrorism platform. It is small, nimble, inclusive, and consensus-based. Its overarching mission is to reduce the vulnerability of people worldwide to terrorism by mobilizing expertise and resources to prevent, combat, and prosecute terrorist acts and counter incitement and recruitment to terrorism.

The Forum brings together policymakers and practitioners from around the world to share experiences and expertise, and to develop practical, publicly available tools and strategies on how to prevent and counter the evolving terrorist threat. The GCTF is currently co-chaired by Egypt and the European Union.

Insightful conversations with the Inspired Institutions bringing renewed energy to current and new efforts.

Insightful conversations with the Inspired Institutions bringing renewed energy to current and new efforts.

10 October 2023

Recently, the Partnership Dialogue between the GCTF and the GCTF Inspired Institutions – Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), Hedayah, and the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ) – was held. During the engagement, the organizations examined ways to enhance the value of the Inspired Institutions, create more synergies, garner efficiency in the ways of working for continuous improvement. The conversations also spotlighted the value of the work done by the Inspired Institutions in support of counterterrorism and P/CVE efforts and in support of a stronger Forum. What's more, the engagement explored various avenues to increase the visibility of activities through communication and engagement as well as taking a moment to take stock of joint activities and evolving cooperation.

The Partnership Dialogues are meetings held regularly to enable the entities to come together to discuss the changing terrorism landscape, the needs required to enhance resilience in local communities, and to explore new opportunities of collaboration. The Inspired Institutions lead capacity-building projects worldwide, including North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Balkans, Central, South and Southeast Asia. Their work has included implementing GCTF products, and tackling topics such as foreign-terrorist fighters, countering violent extremism, criminal justice and rule of law responses to terrorist acts.
