The GCTF Initiative on Education for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism was created to advance P/CVE efforts in education. Led by the European Union (EU) and Morocco – and supported by implementing partner Hedayah, the International Center of Excellence for Countering Extremism & Violent Extremism – the Initiative sought to update and operationalize the GCTF Abu Dhabi Memorandum for Good Practices on Education and Countering Violent Extremism and the GCTF Abu Dhabi Plan of Action for Education and Countering Violent Extremism through the creation of several key resources.

To mark the end of the Initiative, the Leads convened an in-person meeting in Rabat, Morocco, which brought together GCTF Members, civil society actors, and experts in education, countering violent extremism conducive to terrorism, and counterterrorism. This Concluding Conference provided an opportunity to present and discuss the resources, share lessons learned, and align efforts on a forward-looking approach, emphasizing a strengthened global collaboration with education as a decisive pillar in preventing and countering violent extremism conducive to terrorism.
The EU and Morocco thank all GCTF Members and relevant organizations for their efforts in contributing to a successful Initiative and will continue to seek opportunities and forge pathways to explore regional and national implementation of the resources produced.
