An interactive, two-day workshop including real-life simulations to improve national-level terrorist watchlisting and screening processes.

Building on the success of previous workshops and engagements, the GCTF Foreign Terrorist Fighter (FTF) Working Group Co-Chairs, Jordan and the United States, organized a two-day, interactive workshop focused on raising awareness and helping put into action the recommendations shared in the GCTF Counterterrorism Watchlisting Toolkit with focus on the countries located in the Western Hemisphere.

Tabletop exercises are bringing to life the 26 recommendations of the Berlin Memorandum with focus on emerging technological developments.

The United Kingdom and the United States are hosting a series of webinars as part of a new Initiative, the GCTF Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems and New, Emerging, and Disruptive Technologies Initiative. This is the second virtual workshop in a series of workshops to help bring to life the twenty-six recommendations and support a network of experts in their understanding of the best practices and how best to counter malign and illicit uses of UAS with special focus on emerging technological developments.

The United Kingdom and the United States are hosting a series of webinars as part of a new Initiative, the GCTF Counter-Unmanned Ariel Systems and New, Emerging, and Disruptive Technologies Initiative. The new Initiative aims to provide a better understanding of the pros and cons of Unmanned Ariel Systems (UAS) use with a specific focus on emerging technological developments and includes the potential security impact of key types of emerging technologies.

The dynamic and complex nature of known or suspected terrorist flows across land, air, and maritime boundaries requires a more comprehensive and holistic approach involving many stakeholders. The GCTF FTF Working Group (Jordan and the United States), together with UNOCT launched the BSM initiative on the margins of the 22nd Coordinating Committee Meeting & 13th Ministerial Meeting in New York.

Real-life simulations during recent table top exercises enables the use of the GCTF “Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremism” (REMVE) Toolkit.

Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremism (REMVE) conducive to terrorism is rising. These threats are in the name of defending perceived threats to racial or ethnic identity, and target those that are viewed as “enemies” or are “to blame” for perceived grievances. To empower practitioners and policymakers currently implementing counter-REMVE strategies and policies, virtual tabletop exercises were held to support the use of the GCTF REMVE Toolkit. The exercises were part of the Awareness Raising and Operationalizing the GCTF REMVE Toolkit Initiative.

During the recent GCTF consultation for the UNOCT Gender and Identity Factors Platform, supported and co-led by Global Affairs Canada, a deep dive was done into understanding the relationship of gender and identity factors in P/CVE efforts. These two consultations aimed to improve the platform and build upon the close cooperation and mutually reinforcing partnership between the GCTF and the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact.
