During the recent GCTF consultation for the UNOCT Gender and Identity Factors Platform, supported and co-led by Global Affairs Canada, a deep dive was done into understanding the relationship of gender and identity factors in P/CVE efforts. These two consultations aimed to improve the platform and build upon the close cooperation and mutually reinforcing partnership between the GCTF and the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact.

Today, the launch event for the Awareness Raising and Operationalizing GCTF “Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremism (REMVE) Toolkit” Initiative took place. The GCTF CVE Working Group hosted the third workshop under its Initiative on Funding and Enabling Community-Level P/CVE in New York. This workshop on Good Practices in Funding and Implementing Community-Level P/CVE built on the previous two workshops where challenges and barriers to community-level P/CVE were discussed.

On the margins of the Twentieth GCTF Coordinating Committee Meeting in New York, the Countering Violent Extremism Working Group Co-Chairs, Australia and Indonesia, held a side event to promote the GCTF Gender and P/CVE Policy Toolkit and good practices in mainstreaming gender responses in P/CVE policies and programs.  Read more »

The GCTF “REMVE” Toolkit Initiative Leads, the United States and Norway, and the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ) hosted a side event in New York. It highlighted the criminal justice tools that governments are using, including in coordination with civil society and community actors, to counter racially or ethnically motivated violent extremism.
